Recorded at The Musician, Leicester (UK), 14th December 2022. Live audio mix and recording capture by Alan Daly. Thanks to Leicester Jazz House and The Musician. The Kotharat is a musical collage, compiled and arranged by LBA, with inspiration from the Hurrian Hymn (H6). The original composition is recorded on clay tablets and dates back to C3500BC. Though these writings are damaged and incomplete, they are cited as the oldest examples of music notation from anywhere in the world. This new work represents an imagined completion of the H6 Hurrian Hymn and includes narration of ancient Mesopotamian texts depicting The Kotharat - seven ancient goddesses of conception.
